Rapunzel and the Witch Who Would Not Share

(0)
This is a simple, lively 35 minute children’s musical based loosely on the traditional story of Rapunzel. A witch (and her sisters) trick a couple into parting with their baby. The sad couple leave the land, baby Rapunzel grows into a lovely girl with long hair. Jealous of Rapunzel’s beauty, the witches lock her out of sight in a tower. Rapunzel escapes to play with the animals in the garden, but they catch her. As a punishment, they cut off her hair and put a spell on the tower so that there are no doors and no stairs. The cut hair is woven into a rope. Each day, the witch climbs up the rope to bully the miserable lonely girl. One day, a prince is passing, and hears Rapunzel singing. Infatuated, he climbs the rope but falls into a bed of thorns and becomes blind and loses his memory. Some time later, as a beggar, he chances to meet Rapunzel once again. Her tears fall into his eyes and his blindness is cured. This is the beginning of a happy ending! Preview the script and songs at https://www.easyprimaryschoolplays.com

(It is also suitable for any time of year.) Long ago in Ancient China, the new year was fast approaching. Twelve animals were arguing. There was a dog, a pig, a rat, an ox, a tiger, a hare, a snake, a horse, a ram, a monkey and a cockerel. They thought the New Year should have a name. There's No-one Quite Like Me (Musical Play based on "The Ugly Duckling"

A memorable end-of-term show or special extended assembly for ages 5 –11 This comes with script, score, songs and worksheets (Some parts can be narrated by the teacher when used solely with younger pupils.) Duration approx 40-50 min. Fantastic fun to act, sing and dance, but it also explores serious PSHE issues, especially bullying, homelessness and low self esteem. This heart-warming version of “The Ugly Duckling” is inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s classic dark tale. Andersen himself was no stranger to hardship and non-acceptance, which is a theme that could be explored in its own right in school. Mother Duck’s last egg hatches into an ugly, ungainly creature, and he is ridiculed and bullied in the barnyard. He runs away to the marshes and is befriended by the wild ducks, but he loses track of them during the hunting season. A travelling gypsy shows kindness to him, and he is then taken in by a farmer and his family. The farmer’s cat, dog and hen become jealous and bully him so he runs away again. At last he matures into a beautiful swan, finds his self-esteem and flies to freedom. Fantastic- A nice simple show with great characters, and thought-provoking songs which are easy to learn. No musical ability needed- just sing and dance to the backing tracks. Brilliant for class lessons too. Comes with script, 12 songs, backing tracks, PowerPoint Presentation, Piano Score, follow-up work and 20 worksheets. School Performance licence included FREE. You can preview this fabulous lavish production using the sample script provided. If you prefer to preview it on our website you must return to this TES site to get the special TES discounted price!!!
